SIOUX CITY | The talk station KSCJ-AM is switching its national news affiliation to CBS. The broadcaster had been an ABC station.
Station officials in a statement said they’re ending the relationship because of how ABC handled the controversy surrounding Beef Products Inc. The Dakota Dunes company earlier this year came under fire for its lean, finely textured beef. The product is made from bits of lean meat separated from fatty trimmings with ammonia hydroxide gas to kill bacteria.
ABC News ran stories that raised safety questions about the product.
BPI officials have repeatedly said the product is safe. The company was forced to lay off employees after sales dropped.
